We Must Make the Most of the Opportunity Given by the National Team Coach
Yaghoub Borajeh—a 19-year-old defender-midfielder from Persepolis FC has been included in Team Melli’s training camp for the upcoming matches against Qatar and North Korea, based on the selection of head coach Amir Ghalenoei.
Speaking to the national team’s media outlet, Borajeh said:
“I’m very happy to be called up to the national team. It’s a great honor for me. I’m grateful to Coach Ghalenoei for this opportunity at such a young age. This has been a big dream come true, and now I need to take full advantage of it to achieve more success.”
The young player added that a first call-up to the national team boosts a player’s motivation immensely.
“I’m giving my all in training to perform at my best and put in 100% effort,” he said.
Regarding his chances of making the final squad list, Borajeh noted:
“As a player, it’s my job to give maximum effort. The final decision is up to the head coach and technical staff, and whatever they decide, I’ll respect it wholeheartedly. If I’m selected, I’ll serve with all my heart. If not, I’ll return to my club as a professional and work even harder to earn a spot in future camps. Either way, I wish the best for Team Melli.”
Borajeh also shared his admiration for national team star Mehdi Taremi.
“Mr. Taremi is my role model. I enjoy watching him play, even though I don’t play in the same position. I still aspire to reach his level one day.”
Commenting on Iran’s upcoming World Cup qualifying fixtures, he said:
“Fortunately, we’ve already secured qualification for the World Cup, but the matches against Qatar and North Korea are still very important in terms of FIFA rankings and World Cup seeding. That’s why the coaching staff is emphasizing that we approach these matches with full strength, and we’re committed to giving our best and winning both games.”
